Welcome to Pre-medical Advising!  This service exists for UNC Chapel Hill undergraduates who are interested in applying specifically to medical schools.  Our advising office is staffed by current UNC medical students with assistance from administrators and faculty in the medical school.  The goal of this program is to answer all of your questions and prepare you for the application process.  It is important to note that this service is not intended to focus specifically on the UNC School of Medicine but rather medical schools as a whole and the general processes of application and selection.  This program has absolutely no affiliation with the UNC admissions committee, and we cannot write or evaluate letters of recommendation or personal statements.

Our office hours are Tuesdays and Thursdays beginning at 4 o'clock by appointment only.  Appointments are scheduled in 20 minute blocks in Bondurant Hall.  We ask that you complete at least one year of UNC curricula before scheduling an appointment (this means that you must be at least in your 2^nd year of university study).  This rule is in place to ensure that we are able to attend to all those students that need us most in the time we have available.  (Don’t fret if you’re a first-year student; there is still plenty of time!)

Not a current UNC Student? Here are recommendations:

• If you are a current college student but not at UNC-Chapel Hill, consider contacting pre-medical advising at your campus. They will be able to provide you with general information and steps to take for preparation for all medical schools.
• If you have already graduated from college, consider contacting your undergraduate institution for advising opportunities or contact UNC School of Medicine admissions at admissions@med.unc.edu.
• If you have questions specific to the UNC School of Medicine admissions, please contact admissions@med.unc.edu.
• If you are a high school student, or have not yet started college and have questions about preparation and admission to UNC Chapel Hill. Or consider speaking with your high school guidance counselor who will be best suited to tell you what you can do now to prepare for college and medical school.
