- to assist patients, families, and staff to draw upon their spiritual resources as a critical element in the healing and recovery process and provision of care
- ensure patients and families have ready access to religious practices, resources, and rituals to sustain them during hospitalization
- provide pastoral care to patients, families and staff in times of crisis, towards completion of advance directives and end-of-life care planning, and theological and spiritual critical decision making
The unit chaplain can be contacted by asking your nurse to call the chaplain or by calling the Department of Pastoral Care at 919-966-4021. After hours and weekends, the on-call chaplain can be reached by calling the hospital operator at 966-4131 and asking for the on-call chaplain to be paged.
