2012 Health Literacy Course Begins
2012 Faculty Development Program in Health Literacy and Aging
The Carolina Geriatric Education Center is currently launching the 2012 Faculty Development Program in Health Literacy. The six month course addresses serious problems that are presented by low health literacy among older adults. Once clinician leaders recognize these problems, they can make a meaningful change in their practice, teaching, and organizational processes to improve communication and health outcomes. Program Director Darren DeWalt is an international expert on Health Literacy. He is an active researcher and associate professor in the Division of General Internal Medicine at UNC Chapel Hill. The Health Literacy Course for 2012 includes highly acclaimed researchers, AHEC professionals, Professors from Nursing, Pediatrics, Pharmacy, Physical Therapy, and Health Care Administrators; all of whom are interested in promoting Health Literacy. |
