Tiffany Shubert PT PhD wants more seniors to exercise to prevent falls. “Physical Therapy benefits everyone but access is limited under our current systems.” Dr. Shubert explains. By creating partnerships between The Administration on Aging, and state Departments of Public Health, senior centers and physical therapy professionals preventative exercise programs based on real scientific evidence can be brought into the community.

Dr. Shubert along with Dr. Lori Schrodt of Western Carolina University, collaborated with The Department of Physical Therapy, University of Wisconsin, The National Center for Injury Prevention and Control, The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, and The Center for Planning, Policy, and Evaluation, U.S. Administration on Aging. They will present their model for community involvement at the prestigious Combined Sections Meeting of the American Physical Therapy Association in Chicago in February 2012.
