Recognizing elder mistreatment in the acute care setting

Physical injury or psychological consequences of mistreatment may lead to the older adult's hospitalization. This could be the first and/or only time a healthcare provider suspects some form of elder mistreatment.  It may be the only chance to get help beyond care for the immediate physical of psychological symptoms.
