North Carolina State Falls Prevention Resources Survey Reports
To facilitate needs and resource assessments concerning falls prevention for older adults in counties within North Carolina, the NC Falls Prevention Coalition surveyed various individuals and organizations across the state. These included health care and aging services providers, public health departments and senior housing personnel.
The survey is a collaboration with the North Carolina Area Agencies on Aging (AAA). Established through the federal Older Americans Act, AAAs address advocacy, planning, program and resource development, information brokerage, funds administration and quality assurance for older adults. The AAA regions provide a good framework to examine who is involved with addressing falls prevention within areas of NC.
The main purposes of this survey are to develop a directory of current falls prevention organizations and resources, as well as to clarify work that is needed to comprehensively address the problem of falls among older adults in North Carolina. It includes questions regarding activities currently conducted, interests and plans for future work, and areas of needed support.
