Support for Practicing Health Professionals
NC AHEC offers a variety of continuing education (CE) programs and technical assistance services to practicing health professionals and agencies in the state. AHEC is expanding access to its CE programs through distance learning and other instructional technology.

Off-Campus Degree Programs allow practicing health professionals throughout the state to obtain higher education degrees. Since 1982, approximately 1,350 health professionals have earned baccalaureate and master's degree programs in nursing, public health, and social work.

Certificate programs in nursing, dentistry, and pharmacy allow health professionals to acquire knowledge and skills to develop new professional roles to improve the collaboration and continuity of health care delivery.
Library and Information Services
- In 2009-2010, the AHEC Library /Learning Resource Center Network provided 158,152 circulation services and 55,839 reference services to practitioners throughout the state.
- In 2009-2010, AHEC librarians offered 803 educational program sessions to nearly 3,700 attendees. Outreach librarians made 567 site visits.
- The AHEC Digital Library (ADL) continues to deliver core electronic resources and services to health professionals across the state. In 2009-2010, the ADL provided access to several hundred core titles for exclusive use by ADL members and included more than 177,000 logins by members and more than 77,000 by guests.
- Video conferencing technology expansion now exceeds the AHEC network's reach for distance education, TeleHealth, and Telemedicine initiatives to over 200 public and private sites throughout the state
