Greensboro AHEC: A Perfect Score
In the nine month period from July 2008 through March 2009, the Greensboro AHEC had five accreditation visits. The results are in and each program received the maximum years of accreditation. These included:
- Institutional Review (ACGME) 5 years
- Internal Medicine Residency Program (ACGME RRC) 5 years
- Sports Medicine Fellowship (ACGME RRC) 5 years
- Family Medicine Residency Program (ACGME RRC) 5 years
- Greensboro AHEC CME (NC Medical Society ACCME) 6 years with Commendation
This is a first for the Greensboro AHEC and truly is the result of lots of team work within and across programs. Pictured below are: Beckie Knight, Greensboro AHEC Executive Director and the ACGME Designated Institutional Official; Sam Cykert, MD, Internal Medicine Program Director; Bill Hensel, MD Family Medicine Program Director; Bert Fields, MD, Sports Medicine Program Director, and Pam Reavis, AHEC Regional Education Director and Director of CME.
Other key staff involved in the preparation of the reviews included, Martha Delaney and Darcy Hitz, Family Medicine and Sports Medicine; Nancy Phifer, MD, Katie Kirk, MD and Linda Newman, Internal Medicine; Terry Lynn, Institutional Review; Bob Iddings, Tina Latham and Dawn Pettus, CME.
