Northwest AHEC received The Business Journal’s Educator Award for training in its Clinical Teaching Associate (CTA) program which has yielded 178 adjunct nursing instructors or associates since its inception in 2003. This program has helped to bridge the gap between the supply and demand of nursing in the region by training more instructors. The CTA program would not have been possible without the collaborative partnerships and cooperation of: Novant Health (Forsyth Medical Center), North Carolina Baptist Hospital, Winston-Salem State University, and Forsyth Technical Community College. Also submitted in the nomination for the Educator Award and receiving acknowledgement from The Business Journal was the development and implementation of several health literacy materials for patients and health care professionals.
