Nagappan Named Outstanding AHEC Faculty
Suresh Nagappan, MD, MPH, clinical assistant professor of pediatrics, Greensboro AHEC Pediatric Teaching Program, has been awarded the Outstanding AHEC Faculty Award for 2011. Each year the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill medical students honor faculty members for excellence in teaching through the Whitehead Society. This award was established in 1992 to recognize AHEC faculty members who have contributed significantly to the education of medical students. On August 17, 2011, Nagappan was recognized with the award during the annual Whitehead Award Ceremony in Chapel Hill.
Nagappan received his medical degree from Michigan State University and completed his residency and chief residency at the Kaiser Pediatrics Program in Oakland, California. He also has a public health degree in Maternal and Child Health from the University of North Carolina Gillings School of Global Public Health.
