Greensboro AHEC Internal Medicine Recognized
In January 2011, The Greensboro AHEC Internal Medicine program attended the North Carolina Chapter of American College of Physicians (ACP) meeting in Durham, NC where faculty and residents won the following awards and nominations:
Stewart Rogers, MD, won the North Carolina ACP Volunteerism and Community Service Award.
Tim Lane, MD, was named the “Internist of the Year” in North Carolina. Therefore, the Internal Medicine Teaching faculty won two of the three state awards.
Lawrence Klima, MD, program director, was nominated and elected to the Executive Council of North Carolina ACP.
Adwait Silwal, MD (third year resident), was awarded first place in the Clinical Research Poster competition at the meeting.
Valerie Wilson, MD (third year resident), and Vijaya Boggala, MD (second year resident), were among a select few of the over 100 abstract submissions that were invited for Poster Presentation.
The North Carolina Chapter of American College of Physicians is currently the largest physician organization in the country and represents Internal Medicine and its patients, residents, students, and sub-specialists.
