Military Family Issues Training Held in Raleigh
Wake AHEC has served as one of the host locations for trainings developed by the Citizen Soldier Support Program in collaboration with the NC AHEC Program Office and South East AHEC. This year’s training was held in Raleigh on May 13, 2011. Military Family Issues focused on aspects of today’s military family that makes them unique. Various components of the military lifestyle such as a family perspective of military culture and the affects of deployment(s) were discussed. Presenters also highlighted resources specific to health care professionals treating service members. As in years past, the Raleigh location has had the largest group of participants. "We look forward to continuing this collaboration on a much needed topic," said Ruby Brown-Herring, BSW, MEd, associate director, Wake AHEC Mental Health and Public Health Education Program Services and Marketing.
