Northwest AHEC Launches Mobile App for NC Physicians

On June 12, Northwest AHEC launched CreditTrakr, a utility application for Apple mobile devices that will help North Carolina physicians keep track of their American Medical Association (AMA) Physician's Recognition Award (PRA) Category 1 and Category 2 Credits™. The AMA established the AMA PRA in 1968 and for more than 40 years the AMA has recognized physicians who earn at least an average of 50 credits per year from educational activities that meet the AMA standards.

CreditTrakrCreditTrakr provides an at-a-glance status report of completed continuing medical education (CME) activities as well as a list of upcoming educational activities certified by the Wake Forest School of Medicine for AMA PRA Category 1 Credit™. The app replaces a pen-and-paper-based log book and provides a renewal status tracking feature that prevents physicians from having to make last minute scrambles to meet CME renewal deadlines.

The app also allows physicians to synchronize previously completed activities logged into the NC AHEC Program database using their MyAHEC.net user credentials. CreditTrakr will assist North Carolina physicians in their search for education based upon their own professional practice gaps and demonstration of competencies, e.g., maintenance of certification.

The CreditTrakr app is free and available for download in the Apple App Store for the iPad, iPhone, and iPod devices. For more information, visit http://nwahec.org/mobileapps or contact: Christopher Jones at cjones@wakehealth.edu or (336) 713-7039.
