Southern Regional AHEC Offers Certificate Program for Pharmacists
Southern Regional AHEC is proud to be a licensing partner for American Pharmacists Association's The Pharmacist & Patient-Centered Diabetes Care certificate training program. This nationally recognized program, formerly known as Pharmaceutical Care for Patients with Diabetes certificate training program, is an innovative and intensive certificate program that focuses on the pharmacist's role in the area of diabetes management, according to Sarah Moorman, RN, MSN, director of Southern Regional AHEC’s Pharmacy/CME continuing education programs. The certificate program is one of only two offered in North Carolina.
The program, which emphasizes a health care team approach, seeks to foster the implementation of pharmaceutical care interventions that will promote disease self-management. The first program is scheduled to begin on January 28, 2012, and is conducted in three parts - a self-study learning component, web-based case studies and key concepts, and a live training seminar. A certificate of achievement will be awarded to participants who successfully complete all program components, including an evaluation form.
