Wake AHEC Reaches Out
Traditionally, the majority of participants at Wake AHEC programs are from Wake County. To understand the educational needs of the providers throughout the region, Wake AHEC has been concentrating efforts on outreach visits to the additional eight counties by meeting with representatives of public health departments, private practices and other healthcare organizations within each county.
The purpose of these outreach visits is to identify health trends and issues providers are seeing in their patient population, and to develop/direct educational activities specific to those needs.
To date, Wake AHEC staff has completed outreach visits in Vance, Warren, Person, Franklin and Durham counties. While counties share similar educational needs, each county has identified one to two educational needs specific to their area. Each county’s specific needs are being addressed through private and public programs within the respective counties.
Wake AHEC serves healthcare providers in Durham, Franklin, Granville, Lee, Johnston, Person, Vance, Wake and Warren counties.
