Pino Appointed as President and CEO of SEAHEC
The Health Sciences Foundation, Inc. Board of Directors has appointed Joseph Anthony Pino, MD, MHA, FACP, FAAP, (photo right) as president and CEO of the South East Area Health Education Center (SEAHEC). According to the Board Chair Virginia W. Adams, PhD, RN, “Dr. Pino has a quiet, thoughtful, interpersonal, and engaging communication style along with a passion for governing the SEAHEC organization. The board enthusiastically appointed him to this leadership role.”
Pino has served admirably in several professional service roles over the years includign chief of staff at New Hanover Regional Medical Center (NHRMC). Other leadership roles at NHRMC included chair of the Medical Executive Committee, chair of the Professional Review Committee, and physician leader of the Medical Staff Quality Improvement Project.
He has provided extraordinary leadership in the development and creation of Pediatric Specialty Services of SEAHEC, providing care to children at the Betty H. Cameron Women and Children Hospital at NHRMC. In addition, he is engaged in the community and committed to addressing the health care needs in the SEAHEC community. In addition to his clinical teaching and other academic obligations, Pino volunteers his medical expertise with Cape Fear HealthNet in service to the community. Just recently, he worked with the Wilmington Health Access for Teens in a partnership to provide a medical director for that organization.
Pino has a bachelor of science degree from Pennsylvania State University, a medical degree from the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey, a Master's in Health Care Administration from UNC-Chapel Hill and maintains board certification in both pediatrics and internal medicine.
Pino said, “I am humbled to be a part of such a wonderful organization with 40 years of service providing health education and health care to the community.”
