DUKE UNIVERSITY HEALTH SYSTEM - NORTH HOSPITAL - CLINICAL PEDIATRICS LAB

2 openings for MLS - posted 8/15/2017

  • 2ND SHIFT WEEKEND TECHPART TIME - (every other weekend OR can be configured to 2 consecutive weekends “on”, followed by 2 consecutive weekends “off”)

This position in the Duke Clinical Pediatric Laboratory involves supporting a large pediatric inpatient/ED population (neonates/pediatric intensive care units/general inpatient pediatric population) at various acuity levels. 

Education
BS degree in Medical Technology, Clinical Laboratory Sciences, Biological Science or related field is required.
Generalist certification required or registry eligible (generalist certification by a nationally recognized board/agency required within 18 months of hire).

Experience
1 year in general lab preferred.

Focus of testing includes:
Hematology (to include manual diffs) – analyzer Sysmex XN
Urinalysis (Siemens Advantus + manual microscopics)
Chemistry (Beckman DxC800 w/Remisol middleware-40 test menu- general chems/TDMs)
Blood gas (Radiometer ABL90s)

  • MLS ADVANCED  (3rd SHIFT) – FULL TIME – Sunday thru Thursday nights – 2300 – 0730

This position in the Duke Clinical Pediatric Laboratory involves supporting a large pediatric inpatient/ED population (neonates/pediatric intensive care units/general inpatient pediatric population) at various acuity levels.

Education
BS degree in Medical Technology, Clinical Laboratory Sciences, Biological Science or related field is required. Generalist certification.

Experience
Two years experience as a certified MLS.

Lead tech on busy 3rd shift.  Duties include staff scheduling, workflow oversight, analyzer and sample trouble-shooting, administering staff competency assessments and general supervisory tasks. 

Focus of testing includes:
Hematology (to include manual diffs) – analyzer Sysmex XN
Urinalysis (Siemens Advantus + manual microscopics)
Chemistry (Beckman DxC800 w/Remisol middleware-40 test menu- general chems/TDMs)
Blood gas (Radiometer ABL90s)
