Requirements: Bachelor’s degree from a recognized college or university. MT (ASCP) certification, or equivalent, strongly preferred. No prior work experience required for graduate of approved MT program (registry eligible). Thorough knowledge of laboratory testing procedures and equipment with considerable skill in performing various laboratory tests; some ability in dealing tactfully with nursing and medical staff; Good customer service skills.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, promoting the use of CLSI documents through workshops, teleconferences, seminars, and online learning; developing CLSI's education strategy in order to achieve short- and long-term goals; fostering and maintaining strong collaborations with the professions, industry, government, and regulatory organizations; and actively seeking opportunities for cooperative laboratory education activities through partnerships.
Requires a master's degree in education, biological sciences, or public health and a minimum of three years of experience in an accredited health professions program. Ability to manage content development and acquisition; instructional design; content delivery using various modalities, media, and methods; and site logistics. Excellent organizational, verbal, and written communication skills as well as analytical skills, including the ability to conduct research, write analyses and reports, and make oral presentations to a variety of internal and external colleagues and constituencies.

Duke University Health System currently has one full-time position available for a certified medical technologist on third shift in Transfusion Service. Applicants must possess a desire to become an integral member of a team providing blood products at a level 1 trauma center to patients in a safe, efficient manner. Technologists perform complex serological testing using solid phase technology and prepare blood components for a diverse patient population. Strong interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills as well as the ability to solve problems are a must. Applicants must have a Baccalaureate Degree (preferably from a Clinical Lab Science program) and certification by a nationally recognized agency at the technologist level. Minimum Qualifications (required)
* Minimum of 2 years previous lab experience
* ASCP certified or equivalent
Knowledge
* Clinical laboratory instrumentation, (including preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, validation), quality control and calibration procedures
* QC principles
* Evaluating QC data, drawing appropriate conclusions as to the acceptability of such data
* Routine clinical laboratory testing procedures and ability to produce concise and accurate working protocols
* Biological and chemical safety protocols, and laboratory safety rules
* Factors that can influence test results
