Histocompatibility Technologist - posted 6/22/2017

Work Schedule:

  • Full time
  • 8-hour days (Mon-Fri 8:30 - 5)
  • 40 hours per week
  • On-Call Rotation

Location: Atlanta, GA

Job Summary:

Performs high complexity histocompatibility testing and related functions including molecular typing, antibody monitoring, and flow cytometry that regularly require a professional level of knowledge to execute, interpret, and/or analyze.


  • Education:  A bachelor’s degree in chemical, physical, biological or clinical laboratory science from an accredited college or university.
  • Minimum Experience Required: None
  • Licensure/certification/registration: Certification as a Medical Laboratory Scientist by ASCP (or equivalent organization), or Histocompatibility Technologist by ABHI, or within 18 months of employment.
  • Additional skills required: This position requires a theoretical or conceptual understanding of the techniques, methods, and instrumentation utilized in the modern clinical laboratory. Ability to communicate in an effective manner and work effectively with others, possessing tact, discretion, and diplomacy

Through an Affiliation Agreement, UNC CLS students participate in training rotations at the Durham VAMC Laboratory.  The Durham VA Laboratory encourages the new Graduates who are interested in a career at the VA to contact the Lab Manager at 919-286-0411  ext. 6496.
