This position is responsible for conducting the quality control tests on the GC-Lect® media used by county health departments in North Carolina. This activity is directly related to the quality assured laboratory services and to the effectiveness of the state's gonorrhea control program. Manufacturing Technologist (ASCP) - posted 1/3/2017

Hemo bioscience, an established and growing biotechnology company based in Research Triangle Park (RTP), North Carolina, develops and manufactures immunohematology reagents and related products for the U.S. transfusion diagnostics market. We are looking for a dynamic, motivated, multi-tasker who is interested in using and developing their blood bank skills in a fast-paced manufacturing setting. This position participates in all aspects of the manufacturing process. The ideal candidate will be a certified MT (ASCP) or MLS (ASCP) with a minimum of 1 year blood bank experience. New graduates are encouraged to apply. Excellent organizational and judgment skills are required.

 Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Manufacture and preparation of proficiency testing material and in-vitro diagnostics.
  • Preparing laboratory solutions.
  • Cleaning, disinfecting and maintaining laboratory workspace and equipment.
  • Assists with receipt and inspection of raw materials and laboratory supplies.
  • Ordering and stocking of lab supplies, maintenance of appropriate inventory levels.
  • Limited troubleshooting and calibration of instruments.
  • Perform blood group serological testing by tube, solid phase and manual gel methods.
  • Filling, capping, labeling and packaging vials.
  • Microbiological quality control on finished products.
  • Other duties as assigned.


  • Utilizes skills in word processing, typing, filing and routine record-keeping to accomplish specific project tasks.
  • Prepares correspondence, memos, reports and other written materials.

 Regulatory Affairs/Document Control 

  • Responsible for implementing QA functions and following procedures.

Medical Laboratory Scientist, Advanced - Clinical Molecular Diagnostics Laboratory ( posted 12/12/2016

This laboratory is a highly dynamic, clinical molecular diagnostics laboratory providing a wide range of testing services in the areas of molecular genetics, oncology, pharmacogenomics and infectious disease employing a variety of state-of- the-art molecular biology methods.

Qualifications:  The ideal candidate would be an individual with experience in routine clinical molecular diagnostic testing and strong interest and/or experience in clinical molecular diagnostic tests employing techniques like Sanger and Next Generation sequencing.  It is also desired that this individual act as a team player with great organizational skills, attention to detail, and excellent interpersonal, written and oral communication skills. This position requires a minimum of a Bachelor’s degree with a major in biology or a related field with extensive training in molecular biology techniques and/or experience in clinical molecular diagnostics.  ASCP Certification as a laboratory specialist in molecular diagnostics or eligibility is required.

Job Responsibilities: Perform routine clinical molecular diagnostics tests, participate in development and validation of new clinical molecular diagnostic tests, maintenance of instruments/equipment, inventory management, and training/teaching of technologists/students and other trainees in the laboratory.
