The CLS Class of 2019 congratulates Mr. Luby on receiving the 2017 Excellence in Teaching Award.

The Louise Ward Excellence in Teaching Award is presented annually to a faculty member who has demonstrated a high standard of teaching in the Division of CLS, based on student evaluations, peer evaluations, and teaching outcomes (such as the success of students in clinical rotations).

The winner of the Louise Ward Excellence in Teaching Award for 2017 is Mr. Shawn Luby. Mr Luby has served as an adjunct faculty member in the Division of CLS, teaching Clinical Chemistry lecture and laboratory courses, as well as Basic Skills courses for CLS and MDS students.

Mr. Luby’s teaching efforts have been recognized by fellow faculty and students for his

  • Willingness to help students work through problems
  • Approachability and responsiveness to students’ questions
  • Knowledge of clinical chemistry and laboratory skills
  • Ability to explain concepts and relate them to real clinical problems.
