ASCLS - NCSCLS
The American Society for Clinical Laboratory Science (ASCLS) is the national professional society dedicated to:
- Establishing, developing and maintaining the highest standards in clinical laboratory methods and research.
- Creating mutual understanding and cooperation between those in the laboratory and all health professionals working in the interest of individual and public health.
- Promoting programs of primary and continuing education, research and development.
- Representing the profession of clinical laboratory science through improvement of the status of its members.
- Advancing the ideals and principles of the profession of clinical laboratory science.
Student membership is available for a fee of $30.00/year ($25.00 national dues $5.00 state dues). This fee entitles a member to:
- Subscriptions to "Clinical Laboratory Science", a monthly scientific journal and "ASCLS News," a monthly newspaper
- Opportunities to attend the annual meeting and participate in workshops, seminars and the student forum at no charge or a reduced rate
The state society holds two meetings annually with scientific sessions and business meetings. The students may participate actively in the student forum. Student awards and scholarships are among the opportunities available to participants. Any student member, upon completion of the requirements for active membership, shall pay one half of the national dues for the first year of active membership.
