Supporting CLS

The Division of Clinical Laboratory Science depends on private financial support to maintain its record of excellence and provide students with the best possible educational experiences. From purchasing microscopes and other state-of-the-art equipment, to providing scholarships for students and funding for faculty research, private gifts are crucial to the program’s continued success. Your generosity will enable the Division of Clinical Laboratory Science to fulfill its mission of preparing competent clinical laboratory scientists who have the knowledge, skills, and attitudes required to meet the current and future demands of health care.

MekaFinal

Clinical Laboratory Science allows me to combine my desire of working in a patient care setting with my interest in the field of laboratory medicine. I previously had the privilege of working in UNC’s department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine, where I was able to be actively involved in research that aimed to better understand the interaction of certain genes and their effect on the malignancy of brain tumors. This experience fueled my passion to pursue a career in patient care in a more hands-on environment. Upon graduation from the CLS program, I hope to begin working in a hospital lab to become more familiar and experienced with the various areas of the clinical laboratory. I am very grateful to have received the Allene W. Alphin Clinical Laboratory Science scholarship. Because of this award, I am both excited and inspired to do my best in this final year of my college education.
