Best practice in occupational therapy as a related service in schools should be : - Student-centered and occupation-based
- Integrated into the natural environment of the school such as classroom, cafeteria, playground, media center
- A collaborative partnership with teachers and other educational personnel
- Focused on functional/educational outcomes; related to NCDPI Standard Course of Study
- Evidence based
To this end, the following guidance documents are provided for occupational therapy practitioners, EC & school administrators, and families of students with disabilities. These documents are not NCDPI policy and do not necessarily reflect the views of NCDPI or UNC-CH.
