Educationally Equitable Evaluation Practices

The NCDPI OT Consultant provides a free 1.5 hour ethics session to practitioners to fulfill the annual ethics continuing competance activity (CCA) for NCBOT licensure renewal. This session is focused on school-based practice and takes place in April of each year.

This webinar was delivered last school year and is available on the OEC website (Session 8). A canvas course version is available for 1.5 credit hours. This course will also be presented at the EC Conference October 24th/25th.

Description: Special education evaluation teams are responsible for engaging in evaluation practices and decision making that lead to improved educational outcomes for students. Evaluation plans that are focused on targeted areas to investigate lead to effective decisions regarding need for specially designed instruction (eligibility) and also inform pathways to accelerated progress for identified students.

During this webinar, the successive process of special education evaluations will be reviewed, beginning with the initial referral. Analysis of the information brought forward that leads to the referral will be discussed as the basis for sound evaluation planning practices. Within the evaluation process, participants will review the requirements to adhere to with every evaluation. A structured framework will be presented as a model for synthesizing the multiple sources of data collected within the evaluation, and applying these sources to sound eligibility and instructional planning decisions.
