Job Title: Occupational Therapist Salary Grade: 78 Term: 10 month position
Minimum Requirements: BS degree in occupational therapy and successful completion of NBCOT Exam, and current North Carolina License for Occupational Therapy.
Hoke County Schools is seeking a qualified occupational therapist to fill a state employee position for the 2017-18 school year. Hoke County Schools is in Raeford, North Carolina. It is a charming, small town located within a 30 minute drive to the military town of Fayetteville/Ft. Bragg and, the golfing mecca, Pinehurst, North Carolina.
Description: Provide occupational therapy services to students at various schools or educational settings (i.e. home, developmental center) in the district. Screening, evaluating, therapeutic intervention, and exit/transitioning planning is provided for students with disabilities that impact their ability to perform school related activities. Professional judgement, clinical knowledge, and evidenced based practice is used to develop individualized programming based on occupational performance deficits. Occupational therapists regularly collaborate with other disciplines, staff members, parents, and other system level staff. School based occupational therapists participate in the IEP process through collaborative communication and skill observation to identify, develop, and monitor goals and plan of care. Other services include development of modified or adapted materials, providing in-service training to IEP team members, and participating in teams and functions such as Preschool Team, Autism Team, Assistive Technology Team, and Special Olympics. The Occupational Therapist may be responsible for supervising a Certified OT Assistant.
Additional Requirements: Proof of initial Certification by the National Board for Certification of Occupational Therapy; Proof of current license by NC Board of Occupational Therapy; job or fieldwork experience in a school setting or pediatric practice setting is preferred but not required
