Entry to Profession Doctor of Physical Therapy

Our Mission:

The mission of the Entry to Profession Doctor of Physical Therapy program (eDPT) is to provide a comprehensive program of excellence to prepare generalist physical therapists to meet the needs of North Carolina in a manner consistent with high professional values.

Entry to Profession DPT (eDPT) Program Philosophy:

The faculty of the Division of Physical Therapy is committed to developing graduates who are effective communicators, critical thinkers, and skilled at integrating evidence into practice.  Graduates demonstrate excellence in diagnosis, intervention, consultation, teaching, administration, and are effective at working with patients across the lifespan and the continuum of care.  Our educational focus is on preparing clinicians as skilled generalists with a broad background upon which they may later choose to develop expertise as a specialist.  In addition, our graduates gain an appreciation for a life-long career commitment and professional development, for integration with other health care disciplines and for community service.

Degree requirements:

The Entry to Profession Doctorate of Physical Therapy degree requires three full years of study (36 consecutive months) with 114 hours of didactic and clinical courses and 36 weeks of clinical affiliations. Students are also required to successfully complete four mock clinical cases, a written comprehensive examination, and a capstone project.
