Class Challenge Campaign Celebration

Alumni, friends, and current students gathered to celebrate the successful completion of the UNC Physical Therapy Class Challenge Campaign on October 14, 2011. Gifts and pledges from more than 400 UNC PT alumni and friends surpassed the campaign’s $100,000 goal, matching the generous $100,000 gift from Paul and Louise Hall to build the Vanessa Louise Hall Memorial Scholarship Fund in memory of their daughter.

The UNC PT Advisory Board presented Paul and Louise Hall with a mock check for $100,000 to commemorate the campaign’s success. A plaque with every donor’s name will be installed in the UNC Physical Therapy reception area in 2012.

Donna Renne Dean, an eDPT student from Charlotte, NC, was the 2011-12 recipient of the Hall Memorial Scholarship. Her personal statement appears below.

"As I continue on my journey to complete my education in the Physical Therapy program, I have developed even more aspirations and pursuits in my future profession.  I have continued to develop an interest in adult neurology as well as orthopedics related to the performing arts as I have a strong background in ballet.  I intend to keep an open mind with every clinical assignment I receive and hope to learn everything I can about each area of this profession, as well as expand my understanding of many different patient populations.  Regardless of my future specialty, I hope to learn how to connect with my patients on a personal and professional level in order to provide the treatment and care that is meaningful and considered beyond exceptional in this profession.  This scholarship will make it easier for me to attend conferences to learn more about different areas and new techniques in this profession.  It will also allow me to volunteer with physical therapists who share my passion for the arts, as I will now have the time and finances to travel beyond Chapel Hill." -Donna Dean (eDPT '14).
