Debbie Thorpe, PT, PhD, received her BS in physical therapy from the University of New England, her MS in Motor Development and Motor Learning from West Virginia University, and her PhD in pediatric physical therapy from the Medical College of Pennsylvania and Hahnemann University. She holds leadership positions in national and international research consortiums investigating aging and developing interventions to improve function in individuals with cerebral palsy. Dr. Thorpe’s clinical practice focuses primarily on neurological rehabilitation in individuals with developmental disabilities. She has particular expertise in aquatic therapy. Many of her patients have age-related changes in gait and balance abilities secondary to neurological or orthopedic disorders. Dr. Thorpe’s own research focuses on improving fitness and wellness across the lifespan in individuals with developmental disabilities.
