Integrated Clinical Experience (ICE) students perform new patient examinations, provide patient intervention services and document the care provided in coordination with and under the direct supervision of a licensed faculty mentor. Attendance on all schedule days is required. Students will also have the opportunity to participate in administrative activities and facility operations.
All students will be expected to complete a midterm and final self-assessment of performance which will be reviewed by the faculty mentor. Students who select the 1 credit experience will be required to be in the clinic 4 hours per day, 2 days per week for 8 weeks on a pre-determined schedule. Students who select the 3 credit experience will be required to be in the clinic 4 hours per day, 2 days per week for 16 weeks on a pre-determined schedule and complete a clinical project to be negotiated with the faculty mentor.
The overarching goal of ICE is to provide students with direct faculty, clinical mentorship building confidence and clinical competence while providing excellent patient care. In conjunction with classroom training, we believe ICE contributes to the strongest clinical education possible for the next generation of physical therapists.
