Radiography (Certificate)

This program is a collaborative effort between UNC-CH and three area medical facilities- Alamance Regional Medical Center, Duke University Medical Center, and University of North Carolina Healthcare. These facilities provide funding for the program in an effort to support North Carolina workforce demands. Because this is a privately funded program, its continuation is contingent on sustained funding from each of the three facilities. Please consult with The Division of Radiologic Science when planning on pursuing this academic program.

Upon completion of the program, graduates receive a Certificate in Radiography and may be eligible to take the national certification examination in Radiologic Technology administered by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists.

Mission Statement, Program Structure, Accreditation, and Financial Information

Mission:

The UNC Certificate Program in Radiography prepares students to practice competently and effectively as radiologic technologists (radiographers) in medical center settings and community hospitals.

Structure:duke

Students admitted 2010

 

  • orientation week- last week of August 2010

  • begin program classes September, 2010

  • complete program April, 2012 (for most students)
  • approximately five weeks off; with 14 holidays
  • class/lab/clinical schedule approximately 40 hrs/wk, including some evenings and weekends

Program Accreditation

The Radiography program is accredited as part of the University's SACS (Southern Association of Colleges and Schools) accreditation. This accreditation allows the students to meet the eligibility requirement for education for the national certification examination.

Financial Information:

Students admitted 2009

  • fees - approximately $825/semester; (to be determined in August 2009)
  • books and educational supplies- approximately $1500armc bldg for entire program (most books are purchased in the first semester)
  • PDA - $300
  • computer access/internet access
  • uniforms - $60/set + shoes + lab coat
  • class/lab/clinical travel
  • immunizations/health insurance
