Our Mission

To offer exemplary hearing and communication services to the members of the community while providing exceptional clinical education to graduate students.

What Sets Us Apart

The UNC-HCC is a part of the Division of Speech and Hearing Sciences in the School of Medicine at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill (our clinic is not affiliated with the UNC Hospitals Audiology Clinic). As a training institution, the faculty clinicians use the latest research and most advanced technology available while providing excellent patient care.

Services and Products

Hearing Conservation

Our clinic can assist in the selection and purchase of custom made hearing protection devices for use on the job or during noisy recreational activities. We also perform occupational audiometric testing in compliance with OSHA guidelines to identify noise-induced hearing loss and determine the need for further evaluation.

Audiologic Evaluations

We provide comprehensive diagnostic evaluations for all ages. Based on our evaluation we can recommend amplification solutions and/or a medical referral. Private insurance and Medicare are filed through UNC Physicians and Associates for audiologic evaluations. Payment options include cash, check, and Visa/Mastercard.

Hearing Aid Fitting and VerificationHCC

Our mission at the HCC is to choose advanced technology that is appropriate for your hearing and your lifestyle. Hearing aid fitting and verification is an on-going process. We use real ear measurements and research-based practice to verify that the hearing aids are performing specifically to fit your needs. Follow-up visits allow us to fine tune your hearing instruments based on your feedback after “real world” experiences with your new amplification.

Better Hearing Workshops

The Better Hearing Workshops are a four-week seminar series on topics related to hearing loss and communication. Our goal is not just to improve, but to maximize communication efficiency. We educate participants in understanding hearing loss, technology advances and limitations, as well as the care and use of hearing aids. Participants and their families benefit from assistance in identifying sources of communication breakdown and mastering more effective communication behaviors.
