Funding Opportunities and Financial Support for MS Students
University Merit Scholarship ProgramThe Merit Scholarship program is a University-wide competitive program. Scholarships are awarded on the basis of academic merit. Applicants admitted to the program with superior GPA, GRE scores, letters of recommendation, and leadership potential will be nominated by the admissions committee for the award. No other information is required. If the applicant is awarded the scholarship, the Graduate School will notify the applicant of their admission and their award. To be considered for the award, a student's application must be completed no later than December 17, 2010. DSHS StipendsFunding opportunities are dependent upon the availability of external funding within the DSHS for any given year. The level of funding per student varies depending on the source and the amount of the grant. All applicants who have been admitted to the UNC Graduate School will be notified, by the Division of Speech and Hearing Sciences, of funding opportunities as they arise. Some will be awarded based on merit and scholarship. Academic Common Market- The Graduate School at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill proudly participates in the Academic Common Market (ACM). Facilitated by the Southern Regional Education Board, the ACM is a cooperative arrangement among universities in16 states in the southeastern United States. Applicants accepted into one of the following graduate programs at Carolina, and who qualify and are selected for the ACM, are charged tuition at the in-state rate. To qualify for the ACM you first need to be accepted in one of the graduate programs listed below. Once accepted, you will need to contact the ACM coordinator in your home state. You can find the name of your ACM home coordinator here. Your ACM state coordinator will need to verify that you are a legal resident of that state and the program for which you have been accepted is not offered in your home state. Available slots for qualified ACM students are limited. Department of Allied Health Sciences (DAHS) Scholarship Program- Please note correction belowPlease complete and submit the Allied Health Sciences after you have been admitted and have accepted our offer of admission. Please submit your FAFSA beginning January 1. This will also make it possible for us to notify you about financial award information as close to the date of receiving your offer of admissions as possible. Allcott Fellowship:The Allcott Fellowship is a one-time ($3500) competitive award given to a student who demonstrates outstanding community service.
