Scholarships Provided By:

Limited scholarship money has been made available courtesy of special funding.  To submit a request for scholarship, please include an additional letter with your application stating your need for scholarship funds to be able to participate in this year’s Carolina Summer Institute in Auditory-Verbal Therapy.

Description:

This year’s Institute will provide instruction and training to audiologists, speech-language pathologists, and teachers of the hearing-impaired who wish to develop their skills in Auditory-Verbal Therapy, an auditory-based, spoken language approach for children with hearing loss.

Faculty will present modules for professional training from the Auditory Verbal International, Inc. Standardized Curriculum.  The following module is scheduled for presentation:  Development of an Auditory Function / Auditory-Verbal Techniques (Copyright ã 2001 by Auditory-Verbal International. All Rights Reserved)

The following special topics designed to support the practice of Auditory-Verbal Therapy will be covered during the practicum week:

·         Planning and Implementing the Auditory-Verbal Session

·         The Development of an Auditory Feedback Loop:  Strategies for Speech Babble and Critical Elements

·         Beyond Input:  Strategies for the Elicitation of Specific Vocabulary and Language Targets

Training will occur through lectures, discussions, videotape analysis, self-study and hands-on practicum experiences with children who are enrolled in Auditory-Verbal Therapy and their families.

Now in its twelfth year, the Carolina Summer Institute in Auditory-Verbal Therapy has provided training in the principles and practice of Auditory-Verbal Therapy to at least one hundred eighty professionals from around the country.
