Planned Giving
Planned giving arrangements can provide the Department of Allied Health Sciences with substantial support while securing a lifetime income and favorable tax benefits for the donor. Available methods include:
- Appreciated Assets. A contribution of long-term appreciated assets to any AHS division entitles you to an income tax charitable contribution deduction equal to the fair market value of the securities at the time of the gift. You avoid capital gains tax on any appreciation of those securities.
- Real Property. You can contribute real property to the Department of Allied Health Sciences, either as a bequest or, more commonly, by a lifetime transfer, and realize significant tax benefits. Gifts of real property can consist of almost any type of property: personal or recreational residence, farm or ranch, commercial building, subdivision lots, and any undeveloped parcel of land. The gift can be for all your interest in the property or an undivided fractional interest.
- Deferred Gifts. If you would like to make a substantial capital gift to the Department of Allied Health Sciences without give up the annual income produced by your property. Our Planned Giving Program offers a number of ways to make a gift while retaining an income for life.
- Bequest. A bequest may be included in a new will or added to an existing will through a simple codicil. This offers the satisfaction of providing for the Department of Allied Health Science's future and can result in potential estate tax savings.
