Margaret Beal, MMS, PA-C
Primary Care Specialist and Assistant Professor

Margaret (Meg) Beal, MMS, PA-C, is a Physician Assistant practicing Internal Medicine who joins the program as a Primary Care Specialist. She brings experience working for several years at a Patient Centered Medical Home practice that is a joint venture between UNC and Blue Cross & Blue Shield of North Carolina, which focuses on chronic disease population management, and utilizing a multi-disciplinary team-based approach to care. This role has inspired her to share these experiences with PA students and to encourage innovative primary care practice in future providers.

She graduated from Duke University with a BS in Psychology and completed her graduate school training with a Master’s in Medical Science from the Physician Assistant program at Wake Forest University. She has held a position at the National Institutes of Health in clinical research as well as serving as a Care Assistant in the UNC Internal Medicine Clinic. She is excited by the opportunity to participate in PA education at such a well-established academic institution to cultivate her desire to teach, while aspiring to develop the potential future of the PA profession in a setting with so many resources to optimize students’ success.

As a Primary Care Specialist, Meg looks forward to helping ensure that UNC students obtain a strong foundation of knowledge and experience in order to provide excellent primary care to the patients of North Carolina. She aspires to encourage students to understand the importance of the role of the PA in primary care and upon graduation, to go out into communities to practice an innovative approach to primary care, and collaborating with a multi-disciplinary team to enhance the health and wellness of patients.
