Scientists are learning more every day about how the human brain develops, from embryo to fetus to baby. They’re also studying the ways that external factors affect the brain’s development.

The illustration at right shows the brain of a fetus at 38 weeks in gestation. What are some of the factors that might have affected its development?

The Science 360 interactive presentation, led by a Morehead Planetarium and Science Center educator, examines some of those scientists’ findings and what else scientists may discover about the developing brain.

Recommended for ages 8 and older. This Science 360 is supported by a National Institute on Alcohol Abuse and Alcoholism grant.
