Loyalty Fund

Important student, faculty and alumni programs, as well as the Health Sciences Library and educational technology support, are supported by annual gifts to the Medical School Alumni Loyalty Fund. Every year a stronger alumni presence is visible at the Medical School. Maintaining quality education is an expensive mission, and alumni gifts provide the margin of difference.
The UNC School of Medicine is state-assisted, not state-supported. A very small percentage of the School's annual budget comes from state funds. That is one reason why alumni support through the unrestricted Loyalty Fund is so vital.

Making a Difference Through Planned Giving
Many alumni would like to make a major gift to the UNC School of Medicine but cannot commit current assets for such a purpose. Through a will, however, alumni can make a more significant gift than they might ever have thought possible by designating a specific sum, a percentage, or the residue of their estate for the benefit of their alma mater.
To provide a bequest, simply include a paragraph in your will naming The Medical Foundation of North Carolina, Inc. as beneficiary. For example:
"I give, devise and bequeath (the sum of $_____) or (_____% of my estate or the residue of my estate) to The Medical Foundation of North Carolina, Inc., a 501(c)(3) created to maintain funds for the UNC School of Medicine with principal offices located at 880 Airport Road, Chapel Hill, North Carolina."
This language creates an unrestricted bequest for use by The Medical School when and where the need is greatest, or you may specify that your gift be used for a particular purpose.
