Gifts to the Loyalty Fund make a real difference to our students and their medical education experience. For 25 years, the Loyalty Fund has provided important resources for medical education, including student scholarships, teaching professorships, and student enrichment. The LOYALTY of our medical alumni enables us to enrich and inspire the medical education experiences for every one of our students.
Your annual gift at any of the following levels advances medical education at UNC School of Medicine:

- $5,000 1879 Society Donor

The Medical Alumni Association - through gifts to the Loyalty Fund - supports over 55 student scholarships each year. In 2013-14, 63 students received Loyalty Fund scholarships thanks to alumni investments in the UNC School of Medicine.
Endowing a teaching or partial scholarship for a medical student at UNC directly contributes to the success of the next generation of UNC-trained Physicians. Commitments to endow a partial or teaching scholarship begin at $200,000 and may be payable over a period of years.
The Medical Alumni Distinguished Teaching Professorships are intended to honor mid-career faculty with a track record of substantial leadership in teaching medical students as well as educational innovation. The goal is to help the Professors serve as agents of change within the School of Medicine and ambassadors for the School of Medicine, underscoring our commitment to national leadership and innovation in medical education.
An endowment funded through the allocation of annual gifts to the Loyalty Fund over the years has funded these professorships. The first Medical Alumni Distinguished Teaching Professorship was awarded in 1999. Currently six faculty members hold these prestigious positions, each for a four-year period.
Professorship Endowments start at the contribution level of $1,000,000.
