Welcome to the UNC Chapter of the AMA-Medical Student Section (MSS).

As the nation’s largest physician’s group, the AMA advocates and lobbies on the issues affecting the individual physician's ability to practice medicine.  With 240,000 members, mostly physicians, both in academia and private practice, the AMA represents an effective forum for discussing issues and changing policy.  The AMA also publishes the Journal of the American Medical Association (JAMA), which has the largest circulation of any weekly medical journal in the world.

The AMA-MSS is a student organization within the larger AMA organization, providing student members the opportunity to interface with practicing physicians at the local (through affiliated state medical societies) and national levels.  The UNC student chapter includes over a hundred members and is growing quickly.   At this site, you can learn how to join, plan for upcoming events,  learn about our chapter, find out how you can get involved, and stay informed about current issues.  For those interested in leadership, AMA MSS membership presents leadership opportunities at UNC as well as on the national level (also at the state and county level if you include these memberships in your application).
