Community and Environmental Health

A good physician must be aware of the needs of the local community. The chair of this committee will lead events/projects that educate students and communities about public health issues and effect positive changes in these areas. Topics of interest could include the obesity epidemic, the prevalence of hepatitis B virus in Asian-Americans, and antibiotic use in agriculture. Potential partners to help you get started include Student Health Action Committee (SHAC), Students Teaching Early Prevention (STEP), Public Health Interest Group, and faculty in the School of Public Health. A possible funding source for special projects is AMSA’s Local Project Grant.
