| KEYNOTE PRESENTATION: Personalizing Pain Care with Pharmacogenetics Jennifer Strickland, PharmD, BCPS Are you commonly challenged with patients who have difficulty managing pain and/or greater than expected complaints of side effects from pain medications? Pharmacogenetic Testing (PGT) in pain management may help identify possible genetic causes impacting the metabolism, efficacy and side effect profile of medications. Join us for an educational program to learn more about the clinical value of PGT in pain care and to review case studies. |

KEYNOTE PRESENTATION: Opioid prescribing expanded dramatically in the past 15 years in part based on arguments that may have overstated benefits and minimized risks. However, opioid therapy is now under fire by the media, regulatory and clinical fronts and has been virtually discredited based on equally dishonest arguments overstating risks and understating benefits. This leaves new groups of patients with pain at the crossroads and on the verge of abandonment, often without a voice advocating on their behalf. Is there a way forward? Dr. Passik will discuss these issues and suggest solutions to keeping opioids available and safe for those who need them. |
