Pediatric Acute Pain Service
Children of all ages deserve compassionate and effective pain treatment.
The Pediatric Acute Pain Service at North Carolina Children’s Hospital is a consultative service that assists a patient’s primary team in the management of pain while a child is in the hospital.
The service is comprised of nine pediatric anesthesiologists with expertise in regional anesthesia and pain medicine. Together with a team of anesthesiology residents and pediatric anesthesiology fellows, the Pediatric Acute Pain Service is available 24/7 to offer comprehensive management of acute pain issues in children of all ages.
Services currently offered include management of perioperative pain via neuraxial blockade (caudal and epidural analgesia) and peripheral nerve blockade techniques as well as consultative services for the management of non-operative acute and chronic pain.
