What's the best part about the UNC Anesthesiology program?
We have excellent people in our program.  There is a strong emphasis on education, with a friendly and supportive environment.  Our faculty is great at allowing residents an appropriate amount of autonomy in the operating room, while never jeopardizing patient care.

What’s the best thing about living in Chapel Hill?
Despite being a diehard NC State fan, Chapel Hill is an awesome college and young professional town with tons going on. It's also super convenient to the beach, several lakes, and the mountains and the epitome of a Southern city.
What's been your favorite rotation?

I have enjoyed the General OR because we get a wide variety of patients of all levels of sickness undergoing a huge variety of procedures so there is ton of learning and doing something totally new every day. I also loved the unique multidisciplinary environment of OB.
What's the best part about the UNC Anesthesiology program?

The best part of the UNC Anesthesia program is hands down the people. They're the reason I loved it here as a medical student and the main reason I stayed.

What's been your favorite rotation and why?
Regional anesthesia has been my favorite rotation so far. I love all of the regional attendings who really put an effort to teach the residents. I always felt that I had the first chance at all of the blocks even if patient anatomy or time were limiting factors.  Regional anesthesia is great because it gives you almost instant gratification when a patient's pain is almost immediately alleviated after the block and an even greater feeling when the patient requires absolutely no narcotic during the intra-operative period.
What’s your favorite bar/restaurant in the area?
My go to spot for after work dinner/drinks is of course Top-O on Franklin Street. If I feel like being a classy young doctor, I head out to Carrborro's Glasshalfull.

What’s the best thing about living in Chapel Hill?
Two of my favorite things that I have discovered near Chapel Hill is paddle boarding out on Jordan lake and having breakfast from a food truck in Carrboro on the weekends. Coming from a big city the outdoors consist of concrete, road rage and long waits.  My daughters and I have really been able to find our zen here.
