The Anesthesia Care Team is the group of people that will be taking care of you during your procedure. This team always consists of an attending anesthesiologist and either a CRNA (Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist) or an anesthesia resident. The attending anesthesiologist is a physician who has completely finished his or her medical training, as well as specialty training in anesthesiology, and makes all final decisions about your anesthesia care.

Your anesthesia care team may change during your case due to shift changes or other reasons, but be assured that you will NEVER be left alone while under the effects of anesthesia. Since this is a teaching institution, it is possible that students (medical and nursing) will also be present during your procedure. They are there to learn and are under the same requirements of confidentiality as are all operating room personnel. However, at least one anesthesiologist (physician) or nurse anesthetist will be with you at all times during your procedure.
