Robert Valley, MD

Dr. Robert Valley is a Professor of Anesthesiology and Director of the Pediatric Anesthesiology Fellowship program at UNC. He attended medical school at the University of Virginia, completed his residency training in anesthesiology at UNC, and completed a Pediatric Intensive Care and Pediatric Anesthesia Fellowship at Hospital for Sick Children Toronto. He recently served as site Principal Investigator of a study evaluating the efficacy and safety of a post-operative medicine to prevent nausea and vomiting in pediatric patients. He is currently a Co-Investigator on a study evaluating safety and feasibility of a transvenous limb perfusion gene delivery method in muscular dystrophy. He also has served as an investigator on a study examining pain control and side effects in children with and without a low dose Naloxone infusion. Among his many honors and awards, he was listed as a North Carolina Premier Practitioner by Business North Carolina Magazine. He has been a member of the UNC Children's Hospital Surgical Services Task Force and the Patient Safety/Quality Improvement Committee. Dr. Valley is also a peer reviewer for the journal Anesthesia and Analgesia.
