Women's Health Study

The purpose of this study is to demonstrate the feasibility and safety of performing longitudinal evaluations of sexual assault survivors who receive post-assault SANE (Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner) care. Data collected will provide important information regarding the recovery process after sexual assault. These data will also provide important information concerning the experiences of sexual assault survivors with law enforcement, SANE nurses, and other medical providers. This information will be used to improve the care of sexual assault survivors. SANE programs participating in the Women’s Health Study Network include all major SANE care centers in North Carolina, as well as SANE programs in South Carolina, Virginia, and Maryland. This project is funded through NC TRaCs and the Department of Anesthesiology. Dr. McLean is PI of this study.
