The BBSP is no longer accepting applications for Fall 2010, and (the deadline for completed application materials was December 7, 2009).
To apply to BBSP you must use the Gradate School's online application form which can be accessed here. Please read the information for Domestic or International applicants at the Graduate School website before beginning your application. Students interested in the 13 PhD programs listed to the right or any of the BBSP research areas should apply to UNC using the BBSP application and the instructions below. If you are interested in the Biomedical Engineering Program, you will need to apply directly to that program. If after reading about our 13 PhD programs listed to the right you are unsure whether or not to apply to the BBSP program, please feel free to contact us and we'd be happy to help you.

Question 2 - you will want to scroll down the entire list until you see School of Medicine. In the drop down menu for School of Medicine, please select Biological and Biomedical Sciences.
The following are required for an application to be considered complete:
Non-refundable $77 application fee (we cannot review your application until this is paid)
Official copies of each of your transcripts - this is to include ALL schools in which you have attended. Please send 1 copy to the Graduate School and 1 copy directly to the BBSP office; do not send them both directly to BBSP as we do not have an avenue to forward to the Graduate School. (see mailing information below)
Three letters of recommendation. Letters of recommendation should be from someone in a position to evaluate your potential for success in biomedical research. (must be submitted online – we will not accept paper copies)
Personal Statement (must be submitted online – we will not accept paper copies).
GRE scores – scores must be from 2004 or later. If you have not already taken the GRE, you will want to do so no later than the October 24, 2009 test date in order for scores to be reported before the application deadline. Please note: UNC’s institution code is 5816, and the Department is 0299. We recommend if you have taken the GRE, that you self report your scores, however, official scores are to be sent directly to the Graduate School. For more information about the GRE click here.
TOEFL score- must be less than 2 years old (only necessary if you are an international applicant who does not have an undergraduate degree from a US university).
