Welcome BBSP students - this section of the website is designed to be a resource specifically for you. We have developed a lot of great tools for you to find research that interests you, to communicate with your classmates, to get settled into NC and to be successful while you are here. On this page we'll outline some of the main types of information you might be seeking and let you know how to find it. Comments? Elsewhere on the BBSP Website
Rotations and research: As a BBSP student you have access to over 350 faculty located in labs all over campus. To help make it easier to sort through all this information we have created a BBSP faculty database that is searchable by PhD Program, BBSP 'interest area' or by any keyword or phrase.
BBSP PhD programs: on the right hand side of every page in this website you will find links to the 13 PhD programs that make up BBSP. Each link takes you to an informational page where you can find basic information about program requirements and important contacts like the Director of Graduate Studies or the Student Services Manager for a particular program. Additionally each program page contains a link to the PhD program’s own website with more detailed information about the program.
Courses: The coursework section of the website contains the most up-to-date listing of course offerings available to BBSP students.
Student Resources: For a list of useful links to campus resources including Health Care, Student Life and Transportation check out the Campus Life page the About UNC section of our website.
Other BBSP resources not on this website
BBSP Student Site:We have created a site especially for the BBSP student community that contains a variety of resources including useful documents, a place to view the BBSP Academic calendar and a central repository for Ethics and Quantitative Skills materials. In addition the site now houses a resources formerly found on the sakai site: the BBSP Forum.
The new BBSP Forum contains threads for housing, roommates, family resources and rotation advertisements for BBSP faculty labs. The BBSP student site is open to any current biomedical graduate student at UNC. If you do not have access and would like to be added to the site, please contact Sue Modlin at smodlin@email.unc.edu.
If you are a faculty who would like to advertise on the forum we now have a way for you to do this directly. For more information please contact Anna Ballew O'Connell at aboconnell@unc.edu)
