THE UNIVERSITY OF NORTH CAROLINA AT CHAPEL HILL

Graduate Training

At UNC-CH we place a major emphasis on the training of graduate students.  During your first year you will begin to learn speaking and scientific writing skills in your BBSP focus group.  Once you join a PhD program you will continue to develop these skills in your coursework and thesis lab as well as through departmental seminars and poster sessions. Students may also join one of many pre-doctoral training programs which offer additional coursework and mentoring opportunities in select disciplines.  The Training Program in Biomedical and Biological Sciences (TIBBS) also offers a wide variety of workshops and seminars on strategies for success in graduate school, career planning and more.  These workshops are available to all students no matter where they are in their graduate careers.  Follow the links to the left to learn more about how UNC Chapel Hill is committed to providing you with all the skills necessary to succeed as a scientist.
