Dr. Lentz is a Professor of Biochemistry and Biophysics in our department.  He is also the Director of the Molecular and Cellular Biophysics Training Program at UNC.  His research studies the relation between simple lipid membrane structure and dynamics and the functions of complex cellmembranes in the life and activities of cells. At present, his lab has two major projects: the role of platelet membranes in regulating thrombin formation during blood coagulation, and the molecular mechanism of membrane fusion.
