Dr. Sexton is an Assistant Research Professor at the BRITE Institute of North Carolina Central University.  His research interests include:

Real Time Process Monitoring and Control
This research focuses on implementation of real-time testing and adjustment in biomanufacturing process based on the complete understanding of how the components and related processes impact the final product. The goal of this research is to develop new tools and data analysis algorithms to improve the quality of batches, reduce production cycle time and facilitate continuous improvement.

Using Nanoparticle-Bio Conjugates to Increase Effective Dose Rates
The goal of this project is to increase the shelf-life, stability, syringability and effective dose rates of monoclonal antibodies (MAbs) using nanoparticle-antibody conjugates. During this process we will investigate nanoparticle-bioconjugates as a drug delivery system.

Treatments for Type-II Diabetes, Metabolic Syndrome and Cardiovascular Diseases
T2D, metabolic syndrome, cardiovascular disease (CVD) and obesity are increasingly prevalent with nearly one in eight federal healthcare dollars spent on diabetes related care alone. Many symptoms of metabolic syndrome, CVD, and diabetes are shared; however, the molecular mechanisms linking these conditions is unclear. This research seeks to identify molecular probes to further understanding of these diseases.
