ANINDYA DUTTA, MD, PHD
Dr. Dutta is a Professor of Biochemistry and Molecular Genetics at the University of Virginia. His lab studies the regulation of DNA replication in normal and cancer cells using genetics and genomics. Once they understand how the onset of S phase is controlled in normal cells, they can aim to restore that control to prevent the un-restrained growth and genomic instability of cancer cells. The Dutta lab is also interested in how tumor suppressor genes and chromatin remodeling factors co-ordinate the response of a cell to DNA damage to prevent the appearance of mutations in the progeny. Finally, they are exploring the role of microRNAs in cell-cycle regulation with an emphasis on microRNAs that inhibit cell proliferation.
